Lexis lexical



Lexis means the use of vocabulary, or the choice of words, in a language or a text. Lexis is often contrasted with grammar, but in practice these two areas of language are difficult to separate. COLLOCATIONS and IDIOMS belong to lexis, but they are also closely connected with grammar. The adjective from lexis is lexical.
