Due to

Due to is a preposition. It expresses reason and cause, and is similar in meaning to becuase of or owing to.

Ex:
1. His success was due to patience and hard work.
2. Due to bad weather, the farmers have lost much of their fruit crop.
3. The demand for graduates is lower this year, due to the downturn in the economy.

Some people dislike the use of due to in example 2 and 3, and use because of or owing to instead, because they consider that due is an adjective.
