Another

Another is either a determiner or pronoun. It has two meanings:

  1. one more or an additional
  2. a different one

Another (determiner) + noun or pronoun.

Let's see these examples below:
1. I have two cats, and now I want another cat/one*. (= "one more / addtional cat")
* one here is a pronoun.

2. This restaurant is too expensive. Let's go to another place to buy some foods. (= "a different one")

Note: Another can come before a number or some other expression of quantity or measure. Let's see examples below:
1. Can I have another two cups of coffee, please? (= "two more cups of coffee")

2. In another 30 years, our world will be quite different. (= "after 30 more years")

Another as a pronoun has no following noun or other pronoun. Let's see this example: We've finished our drink. Let's have another. (= "one more drink")
