 What is "because"? What is "because of"?

Because is a subordinating conjunction. Because of is a preposition. They introduce a reason for what is in the main part of the sentence.

These are the two structures which occur with becuase:
1. Because + clause
2. Because of + noun phrase

1. Because + clause

We can't go out because it is raining.

2. Because of + noun phrase

We can't go out because of the rain.
I can't love other girls because of you.
